I've been walking for fitness since 2013, averaging about 21,000 steps a day. I'm walking right now and would love to have you join me for the next 10 minutes.

Just to let you know, I'm walking alongside the lake behind our community. It is early in the morning, not super early, but we're in that zone

when every now and then I'll see the alligator. And if you're a brand new listener to walking

as fitness, I live in South Carolina, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, an area that does have

alligators, and we have a lake behind our community.

And usually once a week, maybe every other week when I'm walking early, I will spot the alligator,

which is a small-ish gator, about four feet, I guess.

And he's in the lake, usually moving along, quietly, minding his own business. Every now and then, we've had a moment where he's noticed me,

and I'm looking at him, and he stops, and I can tell that he's just kind of checking me out.

But I'm at a safe distance, so please understand

it's not like I'm at the water's edge.

But as I'm walking, I am scanning the lake, and if I see the gator, I will let you know.

At the moment, the water is calm, and there is no sign of the alligator.
