A Ukrainian delegation is set to meet with U.S. officials in New York today for talks on ending the war with Russia.

It comes as Kiev was bombarded yesterday morning by Russia's second biggest aerial attack since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, with local officials

saying at least 23 people were killed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says those attending today's meeting are working

on security guarantees for Ukraine.

And a source familiar with the talk say the main focus will be to reiterate Zelensky's

readiness for a

presidential-level meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. But Global Affairs

analyst Michael Borsakue told CNN he believes any direct talks are a long way off.

That is not going to happen. It would be, I think, very, very difficult for Mr. Zelensky to meet

with Mr. Putin right now,

especially after what's happened.

And, of course, the Russians are following their normal narrative, aren't they?
