The Kremlin has described a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S.

Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff as, quote, constructive.

It's not clear, though, if any headway was made towards a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.

Whitkoff flew to Moscow at the Kremlin's request, as President Donald Trump is threatening

to hit Russia with punishing sanctions if it doesn't come to a peace deal with Ukraine.

He's also threatening to raise tariffs for countries that buy Russian oil.

A White House document shows India's the first to be punished, with the U.S. imposing an additional

25 percent tariff 21 days from now.
