Summary

Today, people’s interest in the end times seems to be at an all-time high. That concern, however, is not always translated into everyday life. How can we live in light of Christ’s return? In his eight-part series, Until Christ Returns, Dr. Michael Youssef uses the example of the Thessalonians to encourage Christians not to be deterred by persecution, fear, or human pride, but to actively and outwardly serve the living God, confidently awaiting His return even in turbulent times.

0:18.5	In the last 40 years, there has been a movement that is creating a church of various people's
0:27.6	own conception, a church that they like, a church that they want, a church that is accommodating
0:36.6	to their whims and to their desires. Consequently,
0:41.3	we have got very few biblically New Testament churches left in America. They're very few.
0:48.4	And we are surprised why we have lost our influence on culture, why we have lost our influence
0:55.0	in society as Christians.
0:57.6	And here's the truth.
1:00.0	Why are we seeing this in an accelerated fashion?
1:04.2	But as long as there has been a church, there's always people who have brought in erroneous
1:10.4	teaching about the church. For example, Victor Hugo
1:15.1	said that the church is God between four walls. Others have taught that the church is basically
1:21.5	a prestigious social club. And yet, of the more than 110 times in the New Testament, the word church is used.
1:32.1	Never once did they use it for a building.
1:35.7	Never once they used it for an institution or a denomination or an organization.
1:41.2	Not once.
1:42.6	There are a number of metaphors that have been used in the New
1:45.4	Testament to describe the church, but never once referring to a building. In fact, the church in the
1:51.5	New Testament referred to as a family. It is where the brothers and the sisters of Jesus gather
