Summary

Amy once went away for a 3-day intensive at a hotel with a therapist that she had never met before because she was so desperate to process an immense amount of pain she was dealing with. She knew that avoiding it would eventually make her sick…like cheesecake zipped up in a Chanel purse. Our negative emotions get zipped away when we don’t deal with them and sit rotting in our bodies. Pain is a part of life, but suffering doesn’t need to be, so finding a way to process negative emotions is imperative.

Watch the ‘Cheesecake in a Chanel Purse’ analogy HERE !!

Amy and Kat also talk about brainspotting, EMDR, The Body Keeps the Score, Kat’s feelings about Starbursts (because of the quote for this episode: “Never let anyone treat you like a yellow starburst, you are a pink starburst!”), Blinkist (a way to “read” a book in 15 minutes), manifesting an interview with Mel Robbins & co-hosting Good Morning America with Robin Roberts, and more + bonus quotes!!

And today's quote is, never let anyone treat you like a yellow starburst. You are a pink starburst.

2:19.0

What if something likes yellow starburst? I do. I like yellow in orange. But I mean, I prefer red or pink.

2:26.0

Okay, this is a hot take, but I don't like starbursts at all. Like if I was starving and I needed something to eat, I wouldn't say no. I'm not going to eat that.

2:34.0

But I would never choose willingly to have a starburst and if somebody is eating them, I have no inclination to ask for one.

2:41.0

Wow. I don't know what it is. I like that kind of like I like sour gummy worms and skittles, but starbursts aren't my jam.

2:47.0

That's interesting. Fun fact about Kat. Yeah. I am. I am.

2:50.0

I am. I am. I am. Don't offer her a starburst. Yeah. So Kat sent me this TikTok the other day.

2:56.0

And you can set it up. But I thought it was a really interesting analogy and a great way to like paint a picture in your head of what's happening when we stuff down our emotions.
