What's going on everyone? Welcome back to the Epic Gardening Podcast. Now today we're getting specific with a root crop that I know, I love, you know, and you probably love as well. But if you've tried growing them in the past you may have had some

0:16.4

problems. I know I did when I first started growing these bad boys. So what am I talking about?

0:21.3

Well I'm talking about carrots.

0:24.0

Carrots. Yes, carrots.

0:27.0

They are some of the most delicious root vegetables in my opinion,

0:31.0

but a lot of gardeners have a hard time growing them. Why is it like

0:36.6

this? Why are they so hard to grow? Well, there are a few reasons, and what we're going to talk about are ways to plant

0:46.9

carrots and get more success. So carrots, they take anywhere from 10 to 14 days

1:11.9

entire time, but it's such a thin amount of soil that it's very difficult to keep it moist that entire time.

1:20.0

And if it's not moist, then germination rates go down, and you're going to have a lot of issues.

1:25.0

So what I should do, or what you should do, is plant your carrots when you know that you're not going

1:31.0

anywhere for the next 10 to 14 days.

1:34.0

You're not going on a weekend trip, you're not going on a vacation, etc.

1:38.0

What I would do is also try to schedule it for a rainy period.

1:43.0

So if you know that there's going to be some rain

1:45.0

during that 10 to 14 days,

1:47.0

or at least there's a good chance of it,

1:48.0

then that's going to help,

...
