I hope you're having a lovely time, although at the moment it's probably a bit fraught, isn't it?

You know, this is the shopping time of the whole thing isn't it and doing the

shopping under the COVID restrictions and and then you've got all the

social arrangements and the traveling and and all people coming over and the

cooking and all the rest of it. But still, once the dust has settled and Christmas is finally here and you can relax in the bosom of your family, may you have a very happy and jolly holiday. Even if you don't

celebrate it you can finally say thank fuck that's all over for another year and just enjoy being off work.

Unless of course you have to work this Christmas,

I've had to do that a few times.

Once I worked as a porter in a hotel over the Christmas holiday and seeing as it was only a two-star hotel, I didn't even get any tips.

But if ever I tempt along the seafront at a four-star hotel, I was living in Brighton at the time, I'd get tips thrown at me.

For example, you know, I'd pick up a bag and put it into a baggage cupboard and I'd get tipped.

Fantastic!

Sadly though, full-time positions were hard to come by and so I ended up in the

two-star place, working all over Christmas and with no tips.

Oh dear, poor me in the late 90s.

Sorry, I drifted off a little there, but yes, if you are doing some thankless, low-paid
