As you may recall, this is a story told by Lord Underwood to Arthur Flinch on an early tape recording machine in London in 1940,

In our previous episodes, we heard how Underwood and Matthias Flinch were rescued from the Vampire's Island by a

Portuguese ship that then took them on to Kingston, Jamaica. Mathias was reluctant to go as sure because he's wanted for desertion by the Royal Navy, but Underwood convinced him through a subtle manipulation of his mind that he was safer with him than on the Portuguese ship.

A selfish move on Underwood's part, but for him a necessary one, as he knows that for now at least, he can't survive without Mathias' help.

Once they were safely ensconced in a hotel, Underwood went out on the town looking for blood and a ship to charter.
