Summary

EP44 - stop working against yourself and start working with yourself. that's what i needed to hear this week. our brains are quirky, unique and work in weird and wonderful ways, rather than changing them, let's work to understand them and appreciate them. there is so much growth and joy to come from understanding ourselves and the way our minds work. for me, i have had so many realisations recently about learning to not fear my thoughts, understanding my attachment style and so much more. i hope you enjoy and this encourages you to reflect and tune into your mind. lotsa love as always x

Hello, welcome to Inside Annesmind podcast. I hope you're well. I'm Anna here and I'm excited for this episode today.

0:09.0

I did an 18km run this morning which was kind of crazy and it was actually really good. Like I didn't put too much pressure on it because I have to squeeze in quite a few runs at the moment because I missed a few.

0:21.9

And so my body wasn't fully recovered. And also the half marathon is kind of soon. So I was like,

0:26.0

I'm just going to take it chill. I naturally just ran faster. And so I think that's one of the

0:31.3

amazing things that I love about, you know, taking on a challenge or doing a race or just doing

0:36.5

something new and hard is that it builds your self-confidence because you go into it, thinking how on earth am I going to do it? And I don't even know if I can do it. Like even this morning and like this whole last week, I've been thinking about this 18 kilometer run. And I've kind of been like, not about it but like oh god the 18 I'm not

0:55.0

sure I'm not sure and then I go smash it you can't tell me that that is not the best way to

1:00.5

build up your self-confidence by doing challenging things you are quite literally proving to

1:05.0

yourself I can do more than I think and that was the same like with my chin up journey

1:10.3

I gave myself a number of 10

1:12.5

and I was only at three or four chin ups. And I wasn't sure at all how I was going to get to 10

1:18.2

if I could only do three chin ups at the time. But I just set it as a goal and I worked towards it

1:24.2

and then I hit five. I hit six. I hit seven, I hit eight and I was like,

1:28.3

oh my gosh, I'm going to hit the 10. I don't know how still because I'm on eight. And week

1:34.0

by week, I was hitting the PRs or even month by month because I disliked my shoulder in the

1:38.8

middle of it too. And when I did 10, I was like, oh, oh my God, like if I set a goal, I can do it.

1:47.0

And that's just so, I think, inspiring for ourselves because I think, I don't know about you guys, but I have a lot of thoughts, dreams and ideas.

1:54.7

And sometimes it's a bit overwhelming. And sometimes I'm like, how am I going to do it all?

1:57.9

But slowly by doing these challenging things and proving to myself

2:01.8

that I can actually do it, it just shows that I can continue to do it and in different aspects,

2:07.7

not just fitness, but work, personal, everything. Okay, so I have quite a few random things I want to

2:15.9

talk about today and my thoughts are not organized at all.
