to build their lives on. Human opinions and man-made belief systems are not sufficient. Only God's unchanging and perfect word provides a sure

footing for our faith. In order to be faithful to Christ and his mission, we must rely fully

on God's eternal truth.

Today's message from 2nd Timothy chapter 3 unpacked one of the clearest passages in the Bible concerning the importance of scripture for our spiritual life and health. Just as food sustains us physically, so God's word sustains the believer spiritually.

Here's David with a sermon titled Not By Bread Alone from 2 Timothy chapter 3.

What I want us to think about tonight is what does it mean when the Bible says that we are people who who don't live on

bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God? If you have a Bible, and I hope you do, let me invite you to open with me to Exodus chapter 16.

The main text we're going to look at is in 2nd Timothy but I want to start and give you a brief

tour on the way to 2nd Timothy so start with me in exodus second book in the Bible

exodus chapter 16. God has indeed designed our lives that we might be a people who

seek him in the morning and learn to walk in his ways as a result.

I want you to see this. I want you to connect even the words that we just sang with God's design for his people from the very

beginning of the Old Testament. I told the story of of manna,

manna, bread from heaven, appearing on the ground to nourish and sustain God's

people in the wilderness.

I want to show you why God did this. I want to show you

why God led his people into the wilderness and then ordained that they would be

fed this way with bread from heaven.
