We go immediately to Ukraine with Colonel Jeff McCausen, United States Army-retard Artillerymen.

CBS News, visiting Professor Dickinson College, CEO, Diamond Sixth,

leadership, and strategy. Jeff, the situation in the Kirsts, the Kersk salient is not obvious,

but the casualties among the North Koreans suggest that there is firefighting going on in which

the North Koreans are being used either as wave

attackers or are in a poor position to deal with the defenses. At the same time, the Russians are

claiming that they're making advances in the Lujansk Oblast, several cities they've been looking to

capture for some time. In other words, the battlefield

ignoring General Frost is carrying on. I want to start with the cursed salient, however,

because the news from London these last days was the word counterattack. And I was told within

these last hours that the Ukrainians are using some of their good

forces, some of them, and some of their good material, weaponry and armor.

How is it looking to you and why are they doing this?

Well, obviously, the reason they're doing this, I think, is twofold.

First, hopefully to force the Russians to divert forces from their operations in the Donbos region

in the direction of Pachorovsk and elsewhere, to divert them to Kursk, because don't forget, of course,

Kirstk is Russian territory.

Historical territory from the Battle of Kirst, largest, if you will, land battle in the Second World War, and divert them to that

particular area. Second of all, I think they want to make sure they retain a large portion of this
