Crimea.

Crimea is the gem in the Black Sea basin from the point of view of Moscow, several centuries

from the point of view of Moscow.

Right now it is in Russian hands after 2014.

However, there's been talk for weeks and weeks and weeks from President Zelensky and his colleagues

that Crimea must be recaptured for this war to end.

Donbas must be recaptured.

Crimea must be recaptured.

And I welcome Anatol Liven of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft who was recently

in Ukraine and has now returned to the United Kingdom, who has for some time emphasized

that Crimea is a red line, that this cannot be negotiated with Moscow in a reasonable fashion,

that Moscow will respond brutally if there is an invasion or an attempt to recapture or

capture Crimea depending on your point of view.

Anatol is also mentioned that this is a great risk comparable to the Cuban Missile Crisis.

And now we have a new headline from the FT from Kiev.

Ukraine ready, in quotes, to talk to Russia on Crimea if counteroffensive succeeds, which

is itself not promising, except for the speaker, who's the member of Mr. Zelensky's office,

so he's well informed, says that the Kiev will be ready to negotiate with Russia when

we will be on the administrative border with Crimea, not recapturing all of it.
