I'm John Batsworth, my colleague Colonel Jeff McCawson, CBS News, Dickinson College

visiting professor, Diamond Sixth Leadership and Strategy CEO, NATO, Jeff served in the

US Army, and he served simultaneously at NATO now and again, so we're looking at the NATO

map.

NATO Deployes.

My brother was deployed to Germany for many years in the late Cold War.

Jeff was deployed to Germany, but the map has changed.

Jeff, I want to first turn to the news from Ankara and from Brussels that Turkey remains

adamant in blocking the entry of Sweden unless, and then there's a long list of demands

having to do with so-called terrorists and Kurds.

But in any event, Sweden is not at this moment permitted because of the requirement of unanimity

in order for something to happen in NATO.

Is this a setback for the plans to rearrange NATO's map, Jeff?

Well, it certainly could be, John, but so far, NATO leaders, Mr. Stoltenberg, Secretary

General and other leaders in NATO have been dampening down and saying this will all work

out.

Right now, there are two countries still that have to recognize the admission of Finland

and Sweden and that as hungry as well as Turkey.

And Garens, it suggests that they will do so immediately upon the reconvening of their

parliament, which will curse shortly.

It's quite right, John.

The real problem is Turkey.
