0:48.9	nation's highest court appears to be on a fast track to play a pivotal role in next year's presidential
0:54.9	election. The Supreme Court has been asked to weigh in on legal battles involving
0:59.4	Republican front-runner Donald J. Trump. Special counsel Jack Smith wants the justices
1:04.8	to issue a speedy ruling on Trump's claim that presidential immunity protects him
1:10.0	from criminal prosecution in the election interference case.
1:13.6	Today, Trump's legal team responded to Smith's request
1:16.8	by asking the court to hold off on making any decision,
1:20.4	saying the issues involved call, the issues involved call for more careful
1:24.9	deliberation not less. The court has already agreed to hear an appeal from a
1:29.5	January 6th defendant on whether to dismiss a charge of obstructing an official
1:34.1	proceeding a charge Trump also faces. The Colorado Supreme Court's decision to
