This is a temperature that you haven't seen in quite a while. So I totally feel you and that's why today we're talking about

covers covers for a raised bed. How do you protect your plants as we move into this colder season?

There's a lot of different types of covers out there.

So first of all, we'll just define them. I think we all kind of know what they are, but let's go there. of your garden. They will secure in on or around your bed, cover up all your plants within, and they will

protect them from the elements, from pests, what have you. Now there are a few different styles that you can

have, so first of all is a hoop house that's going to be a

PVC and sheet plastic sort of construction where the PVC is bent into a hoop

or a semicircle placed on the ground and then the sheet plastic is going to go over it.

Those are really easy to set up, really easy to take down, so great for a pinch and or just

a low budget simple thing to put up.

Next you've got a box frame cover.

It's a rigid structure that's needed to keep snow off of plants

or to shield them.

Typically these are brought out for the fall winter and then brought back in.

They're sort of a constructed thing.

They're built, right?

They're not just like a hoop house.

It's helpful because that extra structure helps keep heavy snowfall off of the plant.
