Ephesians chapter two, we are continuing through the Bible,

verse by verse, chapter by chapter, book by book.

Here in Ephesians two, Paul says in verse one,

and you hath he quickened who were dead in trespasses and sins.

Now pause right there.

Let's break this down before we keep reading because there's a difference between trespasses

and sin.

Sin makes you dead.

You and I were born in death, the Bible says.

Dead to God. Dead to spiritual life, just spiritually dead. And Jesus said, you must be born again. And that is a spiritual sort of

rebirth. Being born again is another way of saying being saved, becoming a Christian,

whatever you want to call it, but it's salvation through Christ.

But Paul starts chapter two, and he starts to kind of paint a pretty heavy picture.

You, Ephesian, church, Christian people, hath he quickened, made alive who were dead in your

trespasses.

Trespasses are when you've crossed the line,

challenging God's boundaries.

Is there a difference between trespasses and sins?

There is.

Here's where people get confused.

A trespass is crossing a boundary willingly.

In fact, it's like challenging God's boundaries.
