I'm Vincent Racken Yellow, and you're listening to the podcast all about viruses joining me today from New York,

0:28.8

Daniel Griffin. Hello, everyone. Daniel, this is episode, episode update, number 108, and we're apparently at booster number four, aren't we?

0:39.9

Yeah, we were going to just jump right to booster number eight, but no, don't worry. We will talk about boosters. I've been getting a bit of a deluge about that.

0:48.4

We will get there. I was just sharing with Vincent, like just as I'm about to record the power in the entire area where I record went down.

0:56.8

So I have a long extension cords, about 50 feet long, snaked in here. So I think it's going to work, but we'll say.

1:04.8

Let's get right into the quotation. Science is the search for truth. That is the effort to understand the world.

1:12.0

It involves the rejection of bias, of dogma, of revolution, of revelation, but not the rejection of morality.

1:20.5

And that's by line is polling. And I like this. The ideal is science is about discovering what is real, what is true, not about what we want to be true, but actually what is true.

1:34.0

So sort of nice to maybe remind people that that's what science is. And I try to keep opinion as much out of this as possible and share the science.

1:43.4

And I know some people feel like, but Dr. Griffin, what should I do? I'll give you the science.

1:47.6

If you want that little extra, what should you do? Then you probably need a schedule and appointment.

1:51.6

And then I'll give you that last push. But no, my purpose here is to share with you the science, the knowledge, to help you make the decision that's best for you.

2:00.5

And where are we this week? We are back to boosters.

2:03.7

This time we're talking about shot number four. I have to admit, I got such a deluge of text emails, calls.

2:13.7

Actually, so much I was in the Brian layer show this week and actually was thanking Brian for having me on because this way I could talk to you know a million people all at once.

2:24.7

And hopefully we're going to do that here on Twitter as well. Answer all those questions. And yes, and usually I'm going to tell people listen to Twitter, stop texting.

2:34.7

And we'll go into what's going on here. But on March 29th, Tuesday, the US FDA authorized a second booster dose, a fourth shot of either the Pfizer, biotech or the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine four say older people certain immunocompromised individuals.

2:55.6

And let me just run through the update because the distinction I want to make right up front, this is about access. There's no recommendation in this change. And so we'll talk a little bit about that.

3:08.6

So I'm going to hit the three bullet points because there's there are questions. There are things that are not in here and there are things that are in here. So let's go through number one is the broadest statement.

3:19.6

A second booster dose of the Pfizer, biotech COVID-19 vaccine or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine may be administered to individuals 50 years of age and older at least four months after a seat of a first booster dose of an authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine.
