The news is wasting exactly zero time after the three-day weekend before proving to be

absolutely atrocious. On Sunday the bodies of six hostages were recovered by the Israeli military from Gaza,

with forensics results indicating that they had just been killed hours earlier,

having been shot at close range by their Hamas captors. Three of the hostages, Israeli-American

Hirsch Goldberg-Poland whose parents spoke at the DNC, as well as Carmel-Got and

Eden Yerushami were listed as humanitarian hostages who were set to be released in the first phase

of the ceasefire and hostage deal that has been on the table for months.

A spokesperson for Hamas took responsibility for the executed hostages and said that after the IDF's prior hostage rescue mission in New Seerot, Hamas operatives who were guarding hostages were given new orders to execute them if they were about to be rescued.

After the announcement of their deaths on Sunday, hundreds of thousands of Israelis took to the streets in Tel Aviv to protest the failure of

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to secure a deal,

accusing him of intentionally delaying to please the far-right parties in his majority coalition,

because without their support he would lose his job as Prime Minister, as many

expect he will when this war ends, after which he will be forced to finally stand

trial on corruption charges. The country's largest labor union leader also called for a general strike on Monday,

which only lasted a few hours before Israel's national labor court ruled that the strike was

considered a political activity and not a legitimate labor action.

Netanyahu gave remarks late on Monday where he said that Hamas will pay the price for killing

the hostages and double down that he won't concede on giving up Israeli control of the Philadelphia
