Last week, I told you about monkeypox and how there was a small outbreak globally, but it's continued to spread.

A leading advisor to the World Health Organization said the current theory for the spread leads

back to two rave parties, one in Spain and one in Belgium. It is believed that the virus was spread

through sexual contact among gay and bisexual men who attended the raves.

Yesterday, the CDC alerted gay and bisexual men that monkeypox appears to be spreading in the community.

It is important to understand that monkeypox is not a sexually transmitted disease.

Anyone of any race, sex, or sexual orientation can become infected with monkeypox.

It is transmitted through close personal contact, through bodily fluids, skin, and respiratory droplets.

Now, some symptoms to be aware of, monkeypox usually begins with symptoms similar to the

flu. You'll get a fever, headache, muscle aches, chills, exhaustion, and swollen lymph nodes.

It then turns into body rashes on the face, hands, feet, eyes, mouth, or genitals, and those will

turn into raised bumps, which then become blisters.

There are currently 90 cases in more than a dozen countries, and the concern is that monkeypox

has not previously triggered widespread outbreaks beyond Africa.
