Yesterday, the Supreme Court dropped another consequential decision, this time involving

financial benefits for student athletes.

In the case of the NCAA vs. Allston, the court ruled unanimously against the NCAA's

limits on education-related perks for student athletes.

Student-related perks for athletes can vary, but they often include benefits such as scholarships

for graduate degrees, paid postgraduate internships, and providing equipment like computers and

musical instruments for free.

However, the NCAA has always had restrictions on how much athletes could be compensated

until this ruling.

So in simple terms, this case means that in the future, the NCAA may have to pay the

athletes with actual money instead of in laptops and trombones.

Justice Gorsuch wrote the court's majority opinion while Brett Kavanaugh couldn't let

the case go by without his favorite subject, college, without weighing in, so he wrote

his own additional opinion.

He stated that the mere tradition of not paying athletes cannot justify the NCAA's decision

to build a massive money-raising enterprise on the backs of student athletes who are

not fairly compensated.

No-where else in America can businesses get away with agreeing not to pay their workers

a fair market rate, except at Amazon.

That last part was obviously not in the opinion.
