Yesterday was a big day for our two favorite attention-seeking senators, Joe Manchin and

Kirsten Sinema.

To start, we all woke up to an op-ed in the Washington Post by Senator Kirsten Sinema

titled, We Have More To Lose Than To Gain By Ending the Filibuster, where she laid out

an argument for why doing so would somehow shatter by partisanship.

Then later in the day, not to be upstaged, Senator Joe Manchin confirmed that he will

vote yes to advance the updated version of The Four The People Act, which is one of the

anti-voters' suppression bills potentially up for passage in Congress.

To be clear, this vote is not on if the Senate should pass the bill itself, but just a procedural

vote to simply move the bill to the floor for debate, to then maybe be passed.

So last night Vice President Harris presided over the Senate as it voted to open debate

on the bill, and of course Republicans blocked it.

So the bill itself is not actually expected to pass, thanks to the fact that the filibuster

is still in effect, as Kirsten Sinema kindly reminded us VAPR sent earlier in the morning.

Nothing like a day that comes full circle.

Yesterday, the New York Times came out with some new reporting about Britney Spears and

her years-long conservatorship, which showed that Britney had expressed serious opposition

to the conservatorship earlier and more often than had previously been known, and said

that it restricted everything from whom she dated to the color of her kitchen cabinets.
