The Core 4. The four headlines you need to know. Today is the day Governor Ron DeSantis of

Florida takes control of Disney World. We've been following this story since last spring when the mouse and the governor were at odds over DeSantis' bill, commonly known as the don't say gay bill.

Then Disney CEO Bob Chappick said the company was against the bill and would pull any political spending in the state of Florida.

To retaliate, DeSantis said he would strip

Disney of their special tax-exempt status for speaking out against his legislation. Unfortunately,

for DeSantis, he didn't really get what he wanted, which is actually good for the tax-paying

residents of Florida. Had Disney been stripped of their tax-exempt status, the state would have been on the hook for

billions of dollars in bonds and infrastructure, things that the state's largest employer,

Disney, were paying for. What dissentists did get, however, after officially signing the bill

yesterday, was the ability to handpick a five-member board that oversees the government services

that Disney provides in their tax-exempt zone.

So basically, it'll create some oversight for Disney in Florida under Ron DeSantis' lead.

And it also changes the name of the area Disney controls, but that's not really that important.
