February 27th, 2023. The Core 4. The four headlines you need to know. A new proposal from

the White House would ban telehealth doctor appointments from prescribing

certain drugs. Medications like antibiotic and birth control will still be allowed to be prescribed

via telehealth appointments, but medications like Adderall and Oxycontin would require one in-person

meeting first, then they can be refilled via telehealth appointments.

Other drugs like Ambien, Valium, Xanax, and ketamine could be prescribed via telehealth first,

but would require an in-person visit for a refill.

It's estimated that millions of prescriptions were written for patients that doctors

have never seen in person. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, this would go into

effect on May 11th when the public health emergency for COVID ends. But first, the proposal will

undergo a 30-day period of public comment, but then the

DEA will issue a final rule.
