top stories. It's Tuesday, July 23rd.

Seattle police say they need to hire more officers and quickly. Today, interim police chief

Sue RAR gave an update to the Seattle City Council. We're in a staffing crisis. We're down 400

officers, and we are doing our level best to try and

increase our ability to hire more officers more quickly. RAR says one reason for the shortage is Seattle's

lengthy application and screening process. Other law enforcement agencies, she says, have larger

polls of applicants because their process is quicker.

I'd like to CSU's a testing process that is much more low barrier and faster.

Critics of this say they're concerned that lower barriers could mean lower standards.

At today's council briefing, most members agreed with RAR that the hiring process needs to be streamlined.

The race for the White House has been chaotic lately, to say the least.
