Artists are struggling to keep up with Seattle's rising costs, and despite their love for the city,

many are contemplating leaving. Seattle Times Arts Economy reporter Margo von Single is here to talk about what she's

learned from surveying and talking to the locals who helped define Seattle and King County's

art scene. But first, let's get you caught up.

President Joe Biden plans to address the nation tonight.

The president withdrew from the 2024 election on Sunday.

In making the announcement, Biden promised to say more about the path forward.

He's already endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the nomination.

Public health, Seattle, King County is reporting a significant increase in cases of whooping cough,

especially in South King County.

There have been 108 cases countywide this year, which is more than the last three years combined. More than half of those cases were people in South King

County. So be aware. Initial symptoms of whooping cough resemble the common cold but can progress

to severe coughing fits, which could cause vomiting, difficulty breathing, and extreme fatigue.

And here's an unusual traffic note. Be patient if you plan to travel through the Ballard locks.
