Democratic Party leaders in Washington are recalibrating following the announcement that

President Joe Biden won't run for a second term.

In a minute, we'll hear from some local voters, Washington GOP chairman Jim Walsh, and a delegate heading to the DNC in Chicago in a few weeks.

But first, here's what's coming up this week.

A former port of Seattle Police Chief was awarded more than $24 million after a judge determined he was wrongfully fired.

Rod Covey was put on administrative leave in 2020 and fired a year later following an investigation into claims of racial discrimination.

Covey's attorney argued that the port capitalized on the racial uprising following the murder of George Floyd, according to the Seattle Times.

The port says it stands by its decision to fire COVID.

The Centers for Disease Control says it's clarified and simplified new rules for bringing dogs into the U.S. from Canada.

The changes follow feedback from the public, industry partners, and various countries.

Starting August 1st, if you're traveling with your furry friend,

all you'll need to bring them back into the U.S. is a CDC dog import form and a microchip dog

that's at least six months old. There's even a helpful website.
