Students are back at Garfield High School today, less than a week after a student was killed in a shooting outside the school.

Now some parents want to see more security in the area. Kesey Martin reports.

Leslie Williams Gibson's son, Kishon, is a senior at Garfield.

She's worried about sending him back to class after the shooting.

But Kishan is focused on wrapping up his final days of school.

He keeps saying, I have to study for this test, I have to do this,

I have the band concert coming up.

So he's putting all his focus into everything and not focusing on the situation because it's really weighing him down.

She said she'd like to see more police and security in the Central District, not just after shootings.

We should not have to wake up every morning thinking, will our child make it home today?

Or will we make it home?

Kishan and the rest of his class have the graduation on Monday.

Seattle police say they're still searching for the suspect.

They're asking people with any information to call the SPD tip line.

Meanwhile, the teenager who shot and killed a student at

Ingram High School a year and a half ago has pleaded guilty to first degree murder. The boy who

was 14 at the time will be held at a juvenile rehabilitation facility until he's 21. Then he'll be

eligible for two years of parole. The boy shot 17-year-old

Ebenezer-Hiley in November of 2022, following an altercation in a school bathroom. Another teen who

was accused of helping the shooter pleaded guilty to weapons charges last September.
