Yesterday, the U.S. reached a milestone of getting at least one dose of the COVID vaccine

to 70% of American adults, which I say good for you because the daily reported deaths

have gone up by 33% in hospitalizations by 46% on average in the last seven days, nearly

all of whom are unvaccinated.

In the meantime, you can add two more countries, the UK and Germany, to the list of nations

that will start administering a third dose of vaccine as a booster, to individuals who

are older or at higher risk.

So should we start to take bets on when the U.S. will announce the same?

Next we have a story for our California listeners.

It may soon become very difficult to get bacon in California, thanks to an animal welfare

proposition that was approved overwhelmingly by voters in 2018, which will require more

space for breeding pigs, egg laying chickens, and veal calves.

Animal veal and egg producers expect to be able to meet the new standards, but apparently

only 4% of hog operations now comply with the new rules, and many are not optimistic that

they will be able to comply before the law takes effect.
