Summary

Focus on the present moment. The silence emphasizes the power of letting go of the need to control conversations or external stimuli.

Welcome to our brand new meditation series designed to help you release control over events beyond your control. You're guided with daily insight and guided meditations using techniques to release fear and doubt when you think of events beyond your control. You might fear losing a loved one, a pet, your job, your home, or anything else dear to you. Learn to surrender your fears.

This week, we launch into a series designed to help you release the grip of your worst moods. Each day, you'll be guided with meditation techniques to allow you to let go of negative thoughts.

This is part 2 of a 7-part meditation series titled Surrender What You Can't Control, 2980-2986.

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE:

This week, take part in a daily "Surrender Quest." At the end of each day, surrender 3 cares and worries, gently releasing them as you drift off to sleep.

A DIFFERENT MEDITATION TECHNIQUE EVERY DAY FOCUSED ON A WEEKLY THEME:

You are guided with a different meditation technique every day that is customized for the week's theme. Weave the techniques into the most stressful times of your day to manage difficult emotions. The meditation techniques help to calm the "monkey mind," when your thoughts continuously interrupt your meditation.

Welcome to episode 2981 of your daily meditation podcast. I'm Mary Mechley and I

0:09.8

welcome you to day two of this series. We're exploring this week. Every week we

0:17.2

explore a theme and we explore this theme for the entire week and this allows you

0:25.2

to go deeply into a particular quality you want to incorporate into your

0:32.3

life and it's very similar to how Benjamin Franklin focused on a quality. He

0:40.7

would focus on a quality for a full month and this is a way to allow yourself

0:49.6

to absorb this quality into your everyday life to weave it into the pattern of

0:56.5

your daily activities. And so that's what a weekly series is all about. So your

1:03.5

theme for this week is by request from a fellow meditator, Kristen Newbauer, who

1:10.3

is a reporter at Reuters News Agency and Washington DC. She has a very exciting

1:19.7

job and she is responsible for putting out the latest greatest news. She is in the

1:29.5

process of watching her dog slow down and age and she has a feeling that this

1:38.8

beloved pet will not be with her much longer and she aches because of this

1:46.4

and it's hard for her to let go. If you don't have a pet it's really difficult to

1:54.2

understand an attachment to a pet but there's something vulnerable about a

2:01.4

pet's unconditional love towards you, especially a dog and in her case it is her

2:08.2

dog that she is watching. Spend the last remaining months or maybe even years of

2:19.7

her dog's life but she's really noticed her pet slow down and you may be

2:29.6

grieving the anticipation of losing a loved one. In fact someone I follow online

2:40.8

who is a great psychologist on relationships, Sadia Kahn, she talks about how her

2:48.8

greatest wish someone asked her what is her greatest wish and she said it was

2:53.8

to die before her parents die. She would die young and I thought that was so bizarre
