| 0:30.0 | And she has a beloved dog, Sally, who's not doing so well. |
| 0:37.0 | She feels she could lose Sally at any moment and it crashes her to think of Sally not being in her life. |
| 0:45.0 | Now, if you have a pet, especially a dog or a cat, I'm sure you can completely relate to how Kristen feels. |
| 0:54.0 | But if you don't, think about a loved one and try to imagine for a moment what it would be like to lose this person. |
| 1:10.0 | It can seem imbarable. You may even have a hard time thinking about this and you may not even want to think about this. |
| 1:20.0 | Well, for your insight today, I'm going to explain to you a ritual that his holiness, the Dalai Lama recommends you do in regards to loved ones. |
| 1:34.0 | You prepare for their potential loss before it happens. |
| 1:42.0 | Now, you could easily be the one to go first. We don't know our life's path. |
| 1:49.0 | But if you do this technique, you will very likely have an easier time surrendering or letting go of such a difficult experience in your life to lose a loved one. |
| 2:09.0 | In fact, I'll share my story with you how it was everything to me when I lost my mom soon after I had done this ritual. |
| 2:22.0 | And I learned about this ritual when I read the book The Art of Happiness by his holiness, the Dalai Lama. |
| 2:32.0 | So I used to just say the Dalai Lama, but a fellow meditator reached out to me and let me know that in India, this is where the person was from and people of the Buddhist faith, they always refer to his holiness, the Dalai Lama. |
| 2:55.0 | And if you're not sure who the Dalai Lama is, let me just give you a brief introduction. |
| 3:02.0 | His holiness, the Dalai Lama, describes himself as a simple Buddhist monk, but he is the spiritual leader of Tibet. |
| 3:15.0 | He lives in exile currently as a refugee in India, along with many other monks who escaped the Chinese Communist takeover of Tibet, where they ousted all the religious leaders and took over. |
| 3:36.0 | They burned monasteries, they burned ancient texts, they slaughtered thousands of monks, and his holiness, the Dalai Lama, along with many other religious leaders, were able to flee for their lives into India, where they have lived ever since. |
| 3:58.0 | And this event happened all the way back in 1959. |
| 4:05.0 | That is a long time ago, but these monks, including his holiness, the Dalai Lama, continue to live in exile in India. |
