Good morning, everyone. I'm Kate Baldwin. It's Thursday, May 14th. Here are your five things.

Number one, the face-to-face. Chinese President Xi Jinping certainly rolled out the red carpet

for President Trump's state visit, complete with full military parade, a banquet,

dozens of cheering children lining the route

before the two leaders sat down for their big talks.

On the agenda, trade and tariffs, the future of Taiwan, and the Iran war, of course.

In his public comments, Xi talked about the U.S. relationship in a new way, saying they needed

quote-unquote, constructive,

strategic stability.

It's an honor to be with you. It's an honor to be your friend and the relationship between

China and the USA is going to be better than ever before. Our two countries have more common

interests than differences.

Success in one is an opportunity for the other, and a stable bilateral relationship is good

for the world.

She also offered what's seen as China's most direct warning yet on Taiwan.

Now the White House's read out of the closed door meeting makes no mention of

Taiwan, instead focused on economic cooperation, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and also

saying both countries agreed that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon. The viral moments,

though, that people are watching, like this, Secretary of State marveling at the ornate ceiling in the Great Hall.

And there's also, of course, Elon Musk taking a moment to spin in a circle for a video on his

phone. Number two, the Murdoch case, a wild, wild twist here. South Carolina's Attorney
