We begin with the latest twist and turn in the Alec Murdoch saga.

The South Carolina Supreme Court overturned his double murder convictions in the killings of his wife and son.

The court ordered a new trial and vacated two of his life sentences for the murder charges.

In a 5-0 ruling, the court said county clerk Becky Hill denied Murdoch's right to a fair trial by an impartial jury.

She allegedly made improper comments to jurors that's believed to have influenced their verdict.

Hill, who wrote a tell-all book about the trial, denied making most of the comments,

but was charged to last May with perjury, obstruction of justice, and misconduct.

She pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to three years of probation.

Wall Street Journal reporter and author Valerie Borline weighs in.

You know, I wasn't completely surprised.

The Supreme Court, they held a hearing back in February that I went to, and their questions about the handling of the jurors were very pointed for the

state. So it wasn't completely surprising. What was surprising is that it was unanimous ruling.

And they were so adamant that the clerk of court, her misconduct in their view was breathtaking,

unprecedented, and they were very clear that it was not a close call.

They're sending that signal with this unanimous unified voice.

Murdoch separately pleaded guilty to dozens of financial crimes and will remain behind bars

on concurrent state and federal

sentences of 27 and 40 years. Coming up, the verdict's in for a wife convicted of killing her

husband. A woman convicted of killing her husband in Utah has been sentenced to life in prison

without parole today, what would have been his 44th birthday.

After a week's long trial earlier this year, a jury convicted Corey Richens on aggravated murder.
