0:05.9	April 29th. Amazon has confirmed that one of its teams was considering displaying the added
0:12.6	cost of President Donald Trump's tariffs on certain items, but now says, quote, this was never
0:18.1	approved and is not going to happen. The move could have directly illustrated to American consumers how Trump's tariffs are
0:24.6	affecting the cost of goods. At a briefing today, after the proposal was reported,
0:29.5	White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt called it a, quote, hostile and political act,
0:34.6	adding that she had spoken about the matter with the president. CNN's Elena Treene has more details.
0:39.3	The president called Amazon founder Jeff Bezos this morning, shortly after he was informed
0:44.3	by a senior White House official, someone I spoke with, about the plan.
0:49.3	Then also we saw Amazon put out a statement saying that they were just considering it for certain products,
0:55.2	something called the Amazon Hall site.
0:58.0	It wasn't going to be on its main website.
0:59.8	So clearly, Amazon backing away from any plans or consideration of that.
1:04.5	All of this, of course, coming as we're learning about new CNN polling about how Americans
1:09.8	are viewing the economy right now.
1:11.7	The Trump administration is well aware that a lot of people are concerned about the state of the economy and how tariffs are going to be impacting that.
1:18.6	Tens of thousands of Los Angeles County workers went on strike last night, meaning libraries, some health care clinics, and beach bathrooms are expected to be closed across the nation's most populous county.
1:31.3	The two-day strike is in response to failed negotiations with the county for a new contract after the last one expired in March.
1:37.3	That's according to the Service Employees International Union Local 721 leaders, who said it's the first time all of its members have gone on strike.
1:46.0	The union represents more than 55,000 workers in industries like health and park services,
1:51.0	and has accused LA County of 44 labor law violations during contract negotiations,
1:57.0	including surveillance and retaliation against workers engaging in union activity and contracting out positions represented by the union.
