President Donald Trump marks his 100th day in office today.

And the White House is focused on highlighting his economic agenda, as another survey shows the sour mood among Americans.

Consumer spending powers about 70% of the U.S. economy's output,

and the conference board reports today their confidence has sunk to the lowest level since

May 2020, and the U.S. stock market is on track for its worst first 100 days of any presidential

terms since Gerald Ford assumed office in 1974. The S&P 500 is down more than 7.8% and has shed

over $3.9 trillion in market value since Trump's inauguration. And all this pessimism and

whiplash on Wall Street is driven mainly by historic levels of uncertainty and volatility because of tariffs.

I think that tariffs will bring back American manufacturing and generate substantial revenues.

Treasury Secretary Scott Besant tried to justify the on-again-off-again tariffs by saying

Trump's doing it strategically amid trade negotiations with other countries.

He is more concerned about getting the best possible trade deals for the American people.

I think the aperture of uncertainty will be narrowing.

And as we start moving forward announcing deals, then there will be certainty.

CNN did a vibe check on Americans, and they're frustrated and angry about the state of politics in the nation, with neither party positioned to change the mood.

A CNN poll out today shows half or more of all Americans surveyed say they feel Congress and the courts and the judges

are doing too little to check Trump's power as president, and that the Trump administration

isn't doing enough to uphold checks and balances.

58% say that Republicans unified control of the House, the Senate, and the White House

is bad for the country.

But it doesn't appear Americans are eager to turn it over to Democrats either.
