Among the most impactful changes President Donald Trump has made in the first 100 days of his second term

are his efforts to downsize the federal workforce. Now, in what's being billed as the largest

legal challenge to that effort,

more than a dozen unions, non-profits, and local governments have filed a lawsuit to stop the implementation of Trump's executive order,

directing agencies to conduct large-scale reductions in force.

The plaintiffs include the American Public Health Association, the Coalition to Protect America's National Parks, as well as the cities of San Francisco and Baltimore.

At least 121,000 federal workers have been laid off or targeted for layoff since Trump took office, according to a CNN analysis, not including those placed on administrative leave or who took voluntary buyouts.

The White House didn't immediately return a request for comment.

And today, the Trump administration dismissed all the scientists and other authors

working on a major climate report, which is supposed to be an authoritative look at how

climate change is affecting the U.S. That's according to an email sent to the authors yesterday and confirmed by CNN.

CNN's Bill Weir has more about the next report, which was scheduled for 2027 or 28.

In 2000, Congress passed a law that every few years, the best were scientists in the country,

about 400 of them, would put together a comprehensive assessment

that would inform local governments, states, even private industries about what's happening to the

country. But this next one was just killed in the cradle. Like they're working on it right now,

and it is a law that they have to deliver something. So the fear is that they're going to just deliver pseudoscience and ideology,

the kind of stuff we're seeing,

and all these environmental and climate-related press releases

and executive orders coming out of the White House right now.
