filling in from my friend and colleague Ali Velshi, and we've got a lot to talk about. We begin this hour with the state and scope of the retribution presidency.

Since his return to office at the beginning of the year, Donald Trump's revenge campaign

has become a singular focus for his administration. Its scope is probably much bigger than most

people realize. 470 targets and counting have gotten tangled up in Trump's quest for vengeance thus far.

Now that's according to Reuters, which is taking on the monumental task of documenting the

individuals, the groups, and the institutions that the administration has punished or threatened

in some way. It's a difficult but necessary undertaking and it resembles in some respects

the Washington Post project to keep count

of the lies that Donald Trump told during his first term in offices. And that topped at over 30,573

over the first four years that he was in office. Both of these projects can seem like fruitless

work, because in both cases, the behavior is a core feature of the man itself.

He does it constantly. He does it naturally and almost entirely without shame.

But that, in fact, is why it's so important to catalog it.

What's normal behavior for Donald Trump cannot and must not become a new normal for the American presidency.

Current and former government officials have been singled out. Law firms and universities have

become major targets. Democratic-led state, cities, and the officials who actually run them

have also faced Trump's wrath as well. Dozens of officials from multiple federal agencies are now part of a task force involved

with helping the White House carry these efforts out.

Raiders describes Trump's vengeance campaign as a fusion of, quote, personal vendettas

with a drive for cultural and political dominance.
