President Donald Trump's $1.8 billion payout fund is on shaky ground.

Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

Last month, the Trump administration created a huge fund intended to compensate people who say they were unfairly targeted by the Justice Department. That could

include the people who stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. The plan sparked outrage from both parties,

and some Republican lawmakers pushed the White House to abandon the idea. Yesterday, the Justice

Department said it would obey a judge's order to temporarily halt the fund. Some lawmakers

see that as a sign that the administration is backing away from the

idea, since the department has to obey a court order but didn't have to make an unprompted

announcement about doing so. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer reacted to the news yesterday.

At a time when Americans can barely afford to fill their tanks to keep the lights on put food

on the table Trump wants the American people to pay for handouts for magabillionaires

cop beating January 6 insurrectionists and his own family he wanted no transparency no

oversight no accountability it It's disgusting.

Now, Trump is claiming that the slush fund is dead for now.

The Democrats will not stop until it's well and truly buried and can never see the light of day.

A retreat from the fund would mark the latest setback for Trump, who was uncharacteristically

backed away from some of his other political initiatives in recent days, including his plans to

remake the Kennedy Center and for an elaborate concert series to mark the nation's 250th birthday.
