yourself or it's really a cover up for self-sabotage. So let's talk about the things that are good about the treat yourself

movement. Okay. So let's say you say, I'm going to treat myself tonight. I'm going to go on a walk.

I'm going to read a book before bed. I'm going to close my laptop by a certain point every night

this week so I can stop overworking and really just be present. That's awesome. Those things are

treating yourself and those things have a long-term gain. However, a lot of times treat yourself ends up being, you know what,

screw my budget. I'm just going to impulse spend $500 at Target. Or, you know what, screw my workout.

I was going to go work out, but I'm just going to go home and watch Netflix instead. Or, you know what,

ahead of time and I didn't pack anything to eat today. And that ends up being treat yourself.

And here's the thing. Again, I'm not saying all treat yourself things are bad. However, a lot of the ones I just listed don't actually treat you.

They don't actually help you. And a lot of times people will say, oh, I'm going to treat myself.
