I'm Jeffrey Masters, and today I'm talking to Travelle Anderson.

I like to think of this conversation as the LGBTQ state of the union for Hollywood.

We talk a lot about why queer actors stay in the closet.

The fact that queer actors who are white have so far been able to navigate more

successful careers than queer people of color.

And we also talk about how you were able to like and enjoy a piece of art or a show

and still critique it.

That is something that can get lost with the internet sometimes.

And then I just want to note that we kick off the conversation talking about the LA Times.

At the time of this taping, Travel was a critic there.

And as of this week, they are the brand new director of culture and entertainment at Out magazine.

So that is very exciting.
