Summary

(Acts 1:8) Journeying With the Early Church: Christ's last commission was not to build buildings, open the doors, and let all the sinners find us! Rather, we are to go with the gospel. In one Bible verse we can discover where to begin and determine by God's grace that we will not stop. (09241251006)  Join Scott Pauley's study through Scripture this year. We live in a fast-paced, ever-moving world where everyone seems to be rushing in every direction.

And yet, in scripture, God desires to teach us that walking with him is our greatest and most important adventure. Join Scott

Pauli along this journey as we rediscover the joy of our walk with Christ. Sometimes when we study

0:35.8

the Bible, we get so locked in to the details right where we're studying.

0:42.3

I'm talking about the definition of a word and all the intricacies in a passage, and that's very important.

0:48.3

And I recommend that you study the words and the details.

But sometimes we can do that so much that we miss the big

0:57.0

picture, the broad themes, how things are connected in scripture, how the old and the New

1:03.9

Testament work together, what one great author called the unfolding drama of redemption. And frankly,

1:12.2

until you can get the bird's eye view, the big picture, you have a hard time understanding all of the parts because all the parts

1:18.5

make the whole. When you read the Bible, basically the Bible is a book of journeys. And we've

1:25.4

been studying many of these great journeys of the Bible,

1:27.9

but have you noticed the great movements? For example, first in Scripture, it seems that the

1:34.1

journey of all of humanity was away from God. And that's what you see in Adam and Eve. That's what

1:39.2

you see in Canaan Abel. That's what you see in the world of Noah's Day. It's like the whole world

1:44.7

is running in the opposite direction. That's what sin does. It's a movement away from God. It's a

1:51.2

journey out of God's perfect will. And then it's as if scripture begins to shift as the Lord

1:58.2

shows us that his desire is to bring all of humanity back into fellowship with him,

2:04.5

into a real relationship with God, back to himself.

2:07.8

That's really the story of the Bible, it's the story of salvation.

2:10.7

It is the Lord coming to us to bring us to him.

2:14.9

And so where man first was journeying away from God, we learned in scripture then
