That's a frustrated traveler at Newark International Airport last night speaking to CNN.

It's one of 40 airports impacted by the Federal Aviation Administration's flight cuts because of the government shutdown.

So if this shutdown doesn't end relatively soon, the consequence of that is going to be more controllers don't come to work,

and then we're going to have to continue to assess the pressure in the airspace

and make decisions that may again move us from 10% to 15%, maybe to 20.

That's Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy on Fox News today.

More than 900 flights have been canceled today and over 4,000 delayed according to data from

tracking website Flight Aware. An FAA emergency order will likely have travelers seeing disruptions well into next week.

That's because it calls for selected airports to reduce flights on a rolling schedule through next Friday.

Duffy says even if the government were to reopen next week,

flight cancellations would still take place

because air traffic controllers probably won't return to work right away.

Today, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Democrats would agree to end the shutdown

in exchange for one more year of enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies.

There's little expectation that Republicans will take the offer with no reforms, and because they

said they won't negotiate on health care until the government reopens. Meanwhile, the U.S. Department

of Agriculture says the process to fully fund food stamp benefits for this month should be completed

later in the day in response to a court order. Now to the latest Ivy League University to settle with the Trump administration.
