We start with the travel chaos happening across dozens of US airports today, because the FAA is cutting traffic until the government shutdown ends.

About 800 flights have been cancelled so far because of staffing issues,

but further cuts are planned in the coming days. Travelers are frustrated

with the disruptions, like this woman in Georgia speaking to CNN affiliate, WSB.

I think it's ridiculous. Would you be opening a backup ticket?

You have to have backup money. I don't have that. I don't know how I'm going to get back.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is citing safety concerns as the reason for cutbacks.

And a resolution is still nowhere in sight.

After Senate Democrats signaled yesterday, they were prepared to block GOP plans to force a vote to end the shutdown today,

at least until they get a commitment that

the Senate will vote to help curb rising health care costs.

The Supreme Court will meet behind closed doors today to consider a long-shot bid to overturn

its decades-old same-sex marriage precedent.

The appeal comes from Kim Davis, a former county clerk from Kentucky, who refused to issue

marriage licenses after the Supreme Court's 2015 decision Obergefell v. Hodges, allowing same-sex

couples to legally marry.
