As we shift, I'm guided by two questions, like a posture and a question. And the posture is

as we dive into race, which just feels like it's getting more and more prevalent and charged on,

at least on the television screen, from what the average person is experiencing, we definitely do not

know day to day. And yet we're kind of in this time of intense public brutality and shootings.

And so it's a category that feels like if jumping into a counselor's office to talk about

my own issues is intimidating, this conversation of, I don't know, please help me learn, is somewhere in the same neighborhood.

I want to start, though, with two cultural things that happened this year, which might probably surprise you as to like what examples I'm going to throw out there. But I think they're indicative and I'm wanting to hear your thoughts about them.

So the two things are that happened in 2018. I'm glad you mentioned a movie earlier, so I'm not

the first one. The movie Black Panther came out. And that's like, okay, great.

We all love superheroes and now we finally have the black superhero, except that it is

the 10th bestselling movie internationally and it is the third best selling film in North

America of all time.

This isn't just a summer blockbuster.
