There are a few things more stressful than sitting down at an improvised shooting range to check your rifle and scope on a rival somewhere to hunt and finding out that you're in bad shape not only is your point

of impact a little off it's way off.

And for whatever reason, there are some serious issues with your system.

This can be scope-related, it can be rifle-related, it can be scope related, it can be rifle related, it can be ammunition related.

We're going to talk about those things today.

stinking busy and outlining takes a long darn time I'm attacking this thing

So here we go with a random willy-nilly episode on transporting guns effectively to various places in the field, whether that's up to your neighbor's

white tail woods or all the way to Africa for a Plains game safarihen or dangerous game hunt or even Bush Plains in Dakota

Island in Alaska. This topic's suggestion stems from a

listener's question. He wrote in and said, hey, I'm kind of concerned about

transporting guns a long way. I wondered if you could address that topic. So that's

what I'm going to do. I am going to read a couple of pretty interesting questions first and

the answers. So this one is from a fellow that goes by Steve Shelters on Instagram and he wrote into the backcountry hunting podcast

Instagram page and said hey Joseph thought you might be able to help me pick out a new

rifle for my dad he's turning 67 this year and just retired. He has a

Remington 700-300 wind mag but just has a hard time shooting it

after his shoulder surgery a few years back. So I figured this

may be a nice retirement gift for the old man. I live in Alaska and he may be

moving here soon. So Moose and Caribou are on the menu.

I've never seen him take a shot past 200 yards but want a cartridge that can get to 400 if needed.
