Free agency rolls on in the NFL. On today's show, we're going to take a look at some of the

defensive players the Jets have signed over the first two days of free agency and figure out how they

fit into Aaron Glenn's defense. But most of our attention will be on the big news of the day. The Jets have

reacquired quarterback Gino Smith. We're going to talk about what Gino needs to do in 2026 to make this season a success.

But we will begin by breaking down the deal and all of its implications.

On Tuesday afternoon, the news was announced that the Jets had reached terms to a trade with the

Las Vegas Raiders.

The Jets sending a sixth round pick to Vegas in exchange for Gino Smith and a seventh round pick.

The Raiders are also picking up most of Gino's salary. The Jets will be on the hook to pay

Gino Smith $3 million this year. That's about the 55th highest paid quarterback in the league.

So Gino not making a lot of money. In some respects, this deal was a bit of a surprise. Gino Smith was very

much on the Jets radar. There were lots of rumors that he was indeed their number one option of the

quarterback position heading into the offseason. But most of us assumed that the Raiders would just

cut him and that he would sign for the league minimum. The Jets end up giving up a small amount of draft

capital, not a tremendous amount. In fact, about as small of an amount as you can pay in a trade.
