Summary

Stuart Rempel has one of those resumes. If you look at it, you know that he has lived an incredible life, and it all started with a ski bum mentality. Stuart went from pounding nails and skiing winters to running Salomon NA, Olin, K2 Skis, and Whistler. Most people at that level have a few degrees and plenty of suits. That’s not Stuart, though. Throughout his career, he made it a priority to be on snow as much as possible, and the beta he gathered from the hill was used to make skiing better. It’s another great business episode with an important person in the hardgoods and resort world, and Stuart’s legendary neighbor, Mike Douglas, asks the Inappropriate Questions.

0:13.5	Welcome to the Powell movement. I'm your host Mike Powell, and this week I'm on spring break.
0:20.5	That's the plan at least, and I sure hope we made it to California.
0:24.5	Why do I need to hope for this trip to happen?
0:26.8	Well I'll take you through it.
0:28.1	In early February we were planning a family vacation to Mexico.
0:32.0	Ange Keaton and myself were going to go to Mexico and it was going to be so awesome.
0:36.2	But Ange's oncologist told us that
0:37.8	Ange couldn't travel to Mexico because of this new trial that he told us Ange was going to be patient
0:42.5	number one for. Well, it turns out we weren't number one. We were the first alternate. And instead of
0:48.5	doing this trial in early January like the doctor said we were when he took Ange off chemo,
0:53.4	and a little side note, our doctor's plan didn't work, and now we're looking for second
0:57.2	opinions, and we're kicking ourselves for not doing that sooner.
1:00.1	But that's not the point of all this.
1:02.0	Ange was bummed because she couldn't go on vacation.
1:04.4	But I still had to take the boys on a trip.
1:06.5	So I booked a cruise for us, and I picked up the insurance on a cruise line that felt like it was ran by a bunch of carnies. Hint, hint, you should be able to figure out who that is.
1:14.8	So we have this new plan, and then Anne goes to the hospital for 28 days. So many emotions later,
1:20.8	I realized that a cruise is no longer an option. So I try to cancel, but those greedy bastards
1:26.3	at the circus cruise line, you can figure out who those are,
1:29.3	and their insurance company were no help and I lost money on this cruise.
1:33.3	But the boys and I still needed an escape, so hopefully the third time is a charm.
