What has happened to Africa's tourism industry post-COVID?

As you can see now, we are here over 50 youths and we pack all our cars.

We are doing nothing, no job, no tourists.

All the hotels are close.

We know visitors are returning to the continent, but is the picture the same everywhere or as some countries still struggling?

There are other countries, they could not get direct flights to the Gambia here, so they could not come.

I am busy at DeBio, and in this episode of Business Daily, I'm going to look at the tourism sectors in Gambia, Tanzania and Zambia.

We realize that, look, at a time where you need to rebound,

you need to look at other incentives that will now be able to allow people to come into your country.

I'll explore how well the country is recovered after the pandemic

and what they are doing to promote regional tourism,

as well as keep global visitors coming.

Africa is a vast continent with the most diverse countries in the world.

Filled with lush inland forests, picture perfect beaches and sweeping national parks.

I remember visiting the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe a few years ago. It was such a beautiful

sight to behold. I have also been to the truly lovely beaches in the Gambia, where I saw many tourists from around the world experiencing the soothing breeze by the beachside.

A very memorable experience.

Tourism is really important to the African economy.

In 2019, in sub-Taharan Africa, tourism was worth around

$169 billion, and that's around 7% of the region's GDP at that time. Tourism also creates jobs.

In 2019, more than 24 million people in the region were employed in the tourism industry.

That's about 7% of the region's total workforce.
