Welcome to Our Hen House. This is Jasmine Singer. And this is Marianne Sullivan.

And this week, Marianne will be speaking with Yvette Baker, whose work centers around analyzing

the intersections of human and non-human oppression through

an Afro-Indigenous lens. I'm excited to hear this. I know that you said this was like a very,

very compelling and smart human being. And Vicky absolutely could not stop talking about it as

well. So exciting. Love it. Yeah, it was a really

interesting interview, especially her perspective. As she pointed out, like the home that she grew up

and was very indigenously oriented and that had a lot to do with her. Not that all people

from that background become animal rights activists, but it's certainly, those were the connections that she was making and really, really nice, kind person. I enjoyed our conversation.

Exciting. Very cool. I'm happy to be here right now because I'm leaving shortly. In fact, the next time we talk, I will be on the road

when we do tots. I am, well, you know, because you're... I do. But there are other people

I'm going to my niece is bat mitzvah in Kansas. Musseltab. By way of New Jersey,

we're going to a different bat mitzvah. So we're going to two bat mitzvahs, one of which is for

two people. So three bat mitzvah people. Are bat mitzvahs traditionally in June, or is this just a coincidence?

No, it's a coincidence.

And so we are going to one on the Jersey shore, and then we're driving to Kansas for my nieces.

And it happens to be that it's going to be pride in Asbury Park when we're down there.

And then it's going to be pride in Kansas City when we're there.

Pride in Asbury Park sounds like a good time.

I'm not sure about pride in Kansas City.

But, you know, I'm probably being like, you know, too coastal in my perspective.
