0:46.5	Welcome back. Today is day six of our preparation for consecration to Jesus through Mary right here on the Catholic Sprouts podcast. We are in the first part of this preparation where we are
0:52.9	working to detach ourselves from the world by looking
0:57.2	at sin and the example of virtue from our blessed mother. Yesterday we talked about the sin of anger,
1:04.3	and today we are going to look at the virtue of love, which is perfectly modeled by Mary. Now, before we get into this,
1:15.1	I want you to know that love and mercy are so, so similar. Pope Benedict XVIth even said that
1:25.7	mercy is just another name for love.
1:30.1	Mercy is when we look on someone else and we see their pain, their brokenness, their failures.
1:38.4	And instead of getting angry, instead of seeking revenge, we do something that helps them get what they need, helps them be who they were created to be.
1:50.8	We give them the gift of love in those moments. That is mercy.
1:55.4	It is when we really do feel sorry for someone and do what is best for them.
1:59.8	And this is how God is, this is the heart of God.
2:02.5	When he sees us wounded and sinful, he does not seek to punish us. He seeks to help us, to be what we were
2:11.9	created to be, to live better. And so that is how we are called to act as well, to let go of those feelings of anger, to receive God's mercy and to offer that mercy to other people.
2:26.7	Now, a lot of times what keeps us from offering other people mercy is fear.
2:38.7	Fear. We have this deep worry that I'm not enough,
2:44.4	that I need to fight for what I have, for people's attention, for my place in this world,
2:54.4	and that I need to push other people down to get there. But the fundamental understanding that we really need to believe, if we are going to give ourselves totally to Jesus through Mary, is that God doesn't really need me. It's not like he
