| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the 33-day preparation for total consecration to Jesus through Mary, right here on the Catholic Sprouts podcast. |
| 0:18.9 | Before we begin, let's pray. |
| 0:22.4 | In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, amen. |
| 0:26.6 | Mary, Mother of Jesus, be a mother to us now, and bring us to your son. |
| 0:34.3 | Amen. |
| 0:46.1 | Hello and welcome back to this total consecration through Mary to Jesus. Today is day five right here on the Catholic Sprouts podcast. We are in the first section where we are working to |
| 0:52.2 | detach ourselves from the world by looking at sin and then |
| 0:56.5 | also virtue as demonstrated through Mary. Today we will be talking about the sin of anger. |
| 1:03.0 | Now anger can sometimes be good. In fact, if we see an evil in the world and we feel anger, |
| 1:09.9 | that is actually a gift so that we have the |
| 1:12.6 | energy and the motivation to address that evil. But anger can easily become a sin when it is long |
| 1:20.7 | lasting and when it grows out of pride. For example, if I am so consumed with myself and my accomplishments and my things, |
| 1:31.3 | if I become angry because I feel someone has done something offensive towards me or |
| 1:38.9 | slighted me in some way, and I really hold on to those emotions and I become bitter and I seek revenge. Then that is a sin. |
| 1:51.5 | Now the big thing to remember here is that we are sinners. God has a lot of reasons why he can be angry with us. We have not lived up to our sinners. God has a lot of reasons why he can be angry with us. |
| 2:03.0 | We have not lived up to our potential. |
| 2:05.7 | We have been selfish with the gifts that he has given us. |
| 2:09.0 | We have made promises to him that we have broken. |
| 2:13.7 | And yet God chooses to continually offer us love, mercy, forgiveness. |
| 2:23.0 | And Jesus shares quite clearly in the gospel that we have been given love and mercy. |
| 2:30.2 | Therefore, it is our duty to give this love and mercy to others in our lives. |
| 2:37.2 | Now, Jesus tells an important parable on this point, and he tells this parable in response to a question. |
